I was impressed by the quality of the straps, of the grip and the ease of use. The end of the strap is a very nice cut, you cannot feel it and it engages in the buckle very easily . Although this is not the most important, the packaging is also worth a mention : all recycled material (or recyclable) and REUSABLE, including a little bag to store the straps when not in use. The whole purchase breathes attention to deltails and quality. I cannot comment on durability as I use the straps for the first time. The easiness to operate the buckle comes at a cost. The push button, as you can see it on the seller's pictures is exactly what you get when the strap is in grip position : it is up and quite prominent. It will be of no importance for most uses, but if you expect a very flat buckle you have to be aware of it. Personnaly I was very happy with the purchase and recommend.

Ratchet is misleading as there is no ratchet involved. The buckle is like a spring loaded catch with no ratchet tightening feature. That said in the week since I’ve had it it has been snugly holding down my big lock on my back rack on my bike and is doing well. I think with time the point I’m using will fray but it’s long enough that I could rearrange it to use another point of contact for the catch and continue using for a good while most likely. New still but so far so good but NOT A RATCHET STRAP!

I use small to medium hand trucks to move equipment including guitar and keyboard amplifiers and active and passive loudspeakers for medium-sized club gigs. These are perfect for securing such a load. They are quick to use and do the job. If you are constantly moving such equipment as I have, you won't need the ratchet straps. They are too fussy to deal with when you are trying to set up a sound reinforcement quickly for a gig. They won't work on something like a refrigerator or a four drawer filing cabinet that's full of documents, but for smaller lighter stuff it's just the right thing.

The two RIO tie down straps I received had metal buckles, which means that there's less chance of the buckles breaking. The buckles do not have a spring, so the only thing keeping an item in place are the buckle's teeth. I've used the RIO tie-down straps to secure large items, weighing under 200 lbs, to a hand truck/dolly and they've worked flawlessly. The simple design of these straps means that they can be used to quickly and easily to secure an item. The simple design also means that they can just as easily be removed. I would definitely NOT recommend using these 1-inch wide straps for securing an item to the roof of your car. To state what should be obvious, these straps are not designed to be subjected to high aerodynamic stresses.
